Prevent Mesa From Updating
You can temporarily hold the Mesa packages with pacman’s IgnorePkg setting, but on CachyOS this means running a partial system upgrade, which is unsupported and can cause package or dependency problems. I’d use it only as a short diagnostic workaround, not indefinitely. cachyos.org
Back up the config:
bash
sudo cp /etc/pacman.conf /etc/pacman.conf.bak
Edit it:
bash
sudo nano /etc/pacman.conf
Find the IgnorePkg line and add the Mesa packages from your update log: ini
IgnorePkg = mesa lib32-mesa vulkan-radeon lib32-vulkan-radeon vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers lib32-vulkan-mesa-implicit-layers opencl-mesa lib32-opencl-mesa
Save and exit. Pacman should then skip those packages during upgrades.
Important: don’t force an update if pacman reports dependency conflicts, and don’t use pacman -Sy by itself. Keep your working snapshot so you can roll back if the held packages cause trouble. To resume normal updates later, remove or comment out the IgnorePkg line and do a full system upgrade.
