====== Backup ====== ===== Backup Utility ===== The Backup Utility is built into Windows. There is no reason to pay for a backup application. It can be executed by clicking the following sequence: \\ Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Backup \\ It has a guided wizard mode and an advanced mode. ===== SyncBack Freeware ===== SyncBack is a simple, yet powerful, backup utility. It has great flexibility with its many features: * Backup and Synchronization * Scheduling of jobs * File and Folder filtering with wildcards * Verification http://www.2brightsparks.com/downloads.html#freeware ===== DriveImage XML ===== DriveImage is for the imaging and backing up of partitions and logical drives. I mainly use it for migrating to new drives. \\ http://www.runtime.org/driveimage-xml.htm ===== dd for Windows ===== dd (stands for "data definition") is actually a Linux/Unix command, but has been ported to Windows. This is a command line utility that is extremely flexible and powerful. Care needs to be taken when using dd as can be seen by its pet names: "destroy disk", "data destroyer" or "delete data". \\ http://www.chrysocome.net/dd -- Main.FredPettis - 20 Mar 2009
